Growing up amongst the tree-lined streets of Halifax, Nova Scotia, one might say that Janelle Tyler’s ‘ultimate goal’ is to increase and deepen a person’s ability to fully appreciate the beauty in each and every interaction between themselves and the world they inhabit.

Tree Lined Street

The medium of Hot Glass continues to inform Janelle how to ‘go with the flow’, an ideology that constantly influences her approach to life and art. She has found that when she begins a piece, she has the general idea, feeling, and function that she wishes to convey, but that she has to relinquish a certain amount of control and allow the flow -quite literally – of the molten glass to carry her flow of creativity. It is when she allows the glass, flame, and movement to exist in synchronicity that the results are more beautiful than she ever could have expected.
